Amie's Garden
Amie did the planting course first – and returned for the landscaping classes when she realised this was the key to getting the results she needed for a low maintenance, safe outdoor area.
-
After descending from the road, Amie's house had retaining walls, an old deck, and a sheer drop to the houses below.
The whole site was unsafe and in need of some urgent repairs – just a safety rail would have been a welcome addition.
-
Amie booked in for the courses and within a few weeks had clearly visualised what she wanted to achieve.
She decided to develop the outside space next to the house first for maximum enjoyment and benefit.
Simple sketches included well-proportioned seating areas and stairways to lead the visitor between the levels.
-
This was not an easy garden to work with. But Amie has shown that utilising what she learnt on the course, combining imagination and perseverance can get you stunning results – even on the most challenging of sites.
Creative design gives the appearance of the back area being made wider by dividing it into distinct spaces.
The newly created outdoor area “works” for the whole family, and even part finished it already looks beautiful. This design is a winner!
"I was really paralysed on what to do with the space and doing both the hardscaping and planting design courses has given me the confidence and tools to work with a builder to get it done. Pretty good for a course I signed up to for random interest! I absolutely love the result." —
